Brighten St Lucia through Murals

At Harris Paints, we love enriching the lives of our communities through colour. We worked with 3 different schools in St. Lucia to brighten and enhance their surroundings. The first school we worked with was Dunnotar School in St. Lucia, this newly painted mural has made the area more inviting to staff and students. It has also helped to express a greater sense of school identity, inspire creativity and encourage imagination. Members of staff and students were given an opportunity to place their 'mark' on the mural by using their handprints as input in the creation of this artwork. Once a dull surface, this wall is now transformed into a vibrant canvas. Its presence not only beautifies the space but also creates an atmosphere of inclusivity and pride! This beautiful mural was created and sponsored by Harris Paints and Innovative Business Solutions.

The second school we partnered with was the Ave Maria School, who worked with local artist, Naja Misaki Simeon, to create this stunning artwork on a previously blank wall. This long exterior wall is now adorned with a beautiful design which promotes an encouraging and uplifting environment for girls and creates awareness of the school. There was a great deal of thought which went into the colours chosen, images depicted and the quotes featured. The aim of this mural was to create smiles and uplift the spirits of those who view it.

The third school we worked with was the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in St Lucia. This fantastic mural project depicts their two Nobel Laureats Derek Walcott and Sir William Arthur Lewis. The mural project was masterminded by Naja Simeon, an alumni of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and sponsored by Harris Paints. Offering their support was passionate and dedicated team of SALCC students, as well as team from Caribbean Elective, a student-mobility provider that creates impactful student-lead initiatives in the Caribbean.

Special mention goes out to all the partners and volunteers who helped make these murals a success! We look forward to supporting more of these great initiatives in the future.
